Getting here
However you choose to travel we will meet you as necessary and chauffeur you to Pioneer Lodge.
- By air- We are a short hop from Vancouver International Airport. Terrace Regional Airport is just a 20 minute drive away from Pioneer Lodge and is served by both Air Canada (Jazz) and Hawk Air, both of which have several flight in and out daily from Vancouver as well as a host of local communities including Smithers and Prince Rupert.
- By car- Pioneer Fishing Lodge is situated on Highway 16 (the Yellowhead Highway), just 13km from the town of Terrace and 135km from Prince Rupert.
- From Terrace and heading West on Highway 16 (towards Rupert) We are 12.5km from the Sande Overpass (where the Highway crosses above the railway lines in the centre of Terrace - the MacDonald's 'M' is in front of you at the traffic lights). Continue along HW16, drive over the Kalum River, passing the fishermans boat launch (left) and Tempo gas station (right). Drive over the Zymacord River and up the hill, which becomes a 'passing lane' or dual carriageway. Pass Yellow Cedar on your left and Pioneer Lodge is the next drive on your right, immediately past the rock bluff. If you miss us there is a turning area just beyond the brow of the hill.
- From Prince Rupert heading East on Highway 16 (towards Terrace) we are exactly 12 km from the Shames Mountain turnoff, on your left. Opposite is a grass verge with a Canadian flag.
