Pioneer winter sports

A powderhounds playground - the Coastal Mountains can offer many exhilarating experiences to suit all abilities. Off-piste guided heli-skiing and cat-skiing is available for the more adventurous.

Shames Mountain, the local skiing resort is an easy 20 minutes drive. It has a variety of easily accessible runs ranging from very easy to severe. There is a bar and restaurant, changing facilities, hire shop and instruction is available. Lift passes cost a maximum of $42 (based on an adult skiing for a full day). For more info click here.

Shames holds the record for the most annual snowfall of any lift-operated ski area in North America. On average, 15 meters of snow falls here every winter. A freestyle board park provides challenging fun for snowboarders.

Cross-country enthusiasts will find a wide-ranging network of trails to suit all levels at Onion Lake, just 30 minutes south of the lodge - towards Kitimat.
